The Set Ablaze Youth Workshop, is supported by the Marin based Meridian Health Foundation.  A UC Davis college student named Mona Kiani developed the Workshop in 2002.

The purpose of the "Set Ablaze Youth Workshop" is to promote virtues, health, self-discipline, self-restraint, patience, dedicated practice, and respect for people of other cultures and traditions through performance art.  Youth aged 8- 20 meet Sunday afternoons for 4-hour learning and rehearsal sessions.  This group of 20 participants create dances that pose possible solutions to social problems.  Performance themes like “racial unity,” “drug and alcohol abstinence,” “healing domestic violence,” and others are used to educate and inspire during community performances like the Martin Luther King parade, and Cinco de Mayo events.  The group goal is to spread healthy and inspiring messages which in turn, allows these kids to serve others as well as themselves.

The participants and leaders neither pay fees nor receive salaries.  This a voluntary program, and the Meridian Health Foundation and the Rolling Hills Club provides donated rehearsal space, costumes, music and other materials.
